Issue 7

I believe that my production is very good compared to other crime dramas as we watched some other crime dramas as our case studies so the overall ideas we had were taken from the existing ones. Our idea of making the detective the killer was from the crime drama Dexter, which is my favourite example of a crime drama out of all of the ones that we identified whilst doing our research on the conventions of a crime drama.
The narrative, I find, is similar in some ways to my production because of the elements that are based around the characters as the main character having a darker side to them and the relationship that she has to another character that brings out another side, just like in Dexter his relationships bring another side to him that we see as the audience that gives the effect of the character performing multi-roles, in his own personality, I think we showed this in our video as our main character Ellie, shows a multitude of characters just through the actions she makes and the way she talks to the other characters, we her as a boss, girlfriend, killer, detective. The same way we see Dexter in a lot of different roles as his one character.

Issue 8

Overall throughout this task I have been learning about the genre of the crime drama and what is needed to provide the audience with a suitable product that they are looking for so that their uses and gratifications are matched by what we have produced. I believe we have ended up with a very good final product that matches the criteria of the task we were initially given I am very proud of our group and what we have accomplished over the past months.

Issue 6

The mise-en-scene in our production will be quite minimilistic no artificial lighting, use of functional costume for the actors, props to emphasise the locations and the roles in the production and locations that are necessary because we do not have a lot of filming time so we cannot afford to film extra scenes that may not be needed unless we need back up shots for effect.

Issue 5

We know exactly the way we want to play music and sounds in the text. our music should be upbeat and the tempo quite fast so that the intensity is kept in our production to ensure that the audience is kept entertained and intrigued.

Issue 4

The skills required for a screen play are very exact you have to use the right presentation skills such as the indents and the characters names should always be in CAPITALS. Also the sluglines which are basically headings for the scenes should be included when the location is changed or a new scene has begun.

Issue 3

For my pre-production task I have decided to do a screenplay as we have been looking at these in film studies an they seem to be the basis of any production, usually for films, I believe I can make this work by doing it for part of a new episode in which as new storyline is brought in by a new crime in our crime drama. if we were told to do another opening for a new episode of our production I would like to believe that my screenplay could be used as a continuation of what we are currently working on.

Issue 2

After researching audience theory we are very confident about who the audience are for crime dramas and have researched our own audience for our media text, this means we finally know our target audience and what to do so that we get this audience to make use of our product. Our audience, we believe, would be both middle class and working class as there are characters relateable to these classes which i feel the audience will appreciate.
